Operating Room Nurse Reports to: Physician Director, Surgical Department Supervisor Department: Ambulatory Surgery Center, Clinic Classification: hourly, non-exempt Job Summary: This individual is responsible for assisting in the day to-to- day operations of the ASC, function as an admitting, recovery and circulating nurse. Essential Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply common sense understating to carry out instruction furnished in written and oral form Possess a wide-ranging knowledge of cosmetic and esthetic services and products Must be able to work as part of a team Present a highly professional image Effective organizational skills with attention to detail Highly motivated and goal oriented Demonstrates competent math and computer skills Possess excellent communication skills and presents a friendly, caring manner which puts patients at ease Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk and push patients in wheelchair to vehicle, ability to regularly use hand to finger, handle and feel Ability to handle variations of daily routine Demonstrate knowledge and application of infection control policies Responds appropriately to criticism and to suggestions for work improvement Responsibilities: Uses and practices basic assessment of patient prior to surgery date in person or via telephone Assist with clinical pre-op; complete and send pre-surgical assessment following surgeon and anesthesia protocols specific to patient pre-op needs. Perform pre and post op patient phone calls Admits patient into ASC, reviews history and physical, verifies correct procedure on orders and consent. Records vital signs and reviews discharge instructions with patient and/or family members Assist with administration of local, topical or post op meds as ordered by the physician. Manage the care of patients receiving conscience sedation Communicate with OR team to maintain flow of OR and gather needed supplies during cases Assist surgeon in performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures Functions effectively under pressure Perform various open and closing duties Maintain a clean environment, ensuring surgery beds are cleaned and ready for patient use before, during and after surgery Responds to life life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol Demonstrate compliance with all provisions of safety rules; infection control and other policies and procedures. Perform other functions and duties as required Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA Education, Training and Experience Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) 2 years OR related experience. Valid CPR, BLS and ACLS. Schedule: Monday through Friday, no nights or weekends! Employment Type: Full Time Salary: $40 - $45 Hourly Bonus/Commission: No
